Khon Kaen, Thailand

Khon Kaen is a regional center for education, financial institutions, government offices and transportation. The city is also an industrial center. Khon Kaen has played host to a number of regional conferences, such as the Asian Regional Forum and United Nations meetings. Presently Khon Kaen is one of the major cities under Thailand's National Economic and Social Plan.

Khon Kaen University (KKU) is the largest university in the Northeast, with a student population of around 40,000.

The Faculty of Engineering of Khon Kaen University (EN-KKU) is the first Faculty of Engineering established outside Bangkok, the capital city of Thailand. In 2014, KKU and EN-KKU are celebrating the 50th anniversary. On this auspicious occasion, EN-KKU joins hands with NKMU and SFedU organize the "2014 International Symposium on Physics and Mathematics of New Materials and Underwater Applications" (PHENMA 2014) parallel to the 5th KKU International Engineering Conference 2014 (KKU-IENC 2014).

Objectives of the Symposium

This symposium continues thematic of the First Taiwanese-Russian Symposium "Physics and Mechanics of New Materials and Their Applications " (4-6 June, 2012, Rostov-on-Don, Russia), selected reports of which have been published as edited book "Physics and Mechanics of New Materials and Their Applications" by Nova Science Publishers, Inc., New York, and " 2013 International Symposium on "Physics and Mechanics of New Materials and Underwater Applications" (5-8 June, 2013, Kaohsiung, Taiwan), selected reports of which are published as Springer Proceedings " Advanced Materials - Physics, Mechanics and Applications " by Springer International Publishing AG, Gham, Switzerland. PHENMA 2014 is satellite symposium of the 5th KKU International Engineering Conference 2014 (KKU-IENC 2014), devoted to the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Faculty of Engineering, Khon Kaen University. Therefore, the PHENMA 2014 program will also include the scientific directions of KKU-IENC 2014. As usually, the symposium will present last joined results obtained Taiwanese, Russian and Thailand scientists, especially in underwater technology and applications. Moreover, in the symposium it is planned to discuss results in related areas. General symposium topics include, but are not limited to advanced materials, their synthesis and processing, characterization, research methods, and applications.

In particular, the reports will be devoted to original experimental, theoretical and model results obtained for manufactured polymeric composites, piezotransducers and other devices for broad applications. The interchange by scientific results and discussion of directions for new joint researches will promote to significant motion in the way R&D of the more reliable and long-lived informative underwater devices based on MEMS-approach. Another goal of the symposium is to attract researchers from Thailand, Russia, Taiwan, and other countries to fulfillment of joint investigations and scientific collaboration.

Abstracts

The abstracts up to one page in WORD 97-2003 (*.doc) should be sent by e-mail before January 1, 2014 to: ppr@math.rsu.ru and doubled to parinov_ia@mail.ru. Authors will be notified by February 1, 2014 whether the contribution has been accepted.

The format to be used is a text within a box of width 14.5 cm and height 22.5 cm. A 12 point font should be used. The title appears centered, in capitals. It is separated by an empty line from the authors name in lower case, also centered. The name of the author who presents the contribution should be underlined. An empty line separates the name from the affiliation, in lower case and centered. The text body, together with the heading, should fit inside the box. The Abstract book will be published before symposium.

Proceedings

The proceedings will be published as special Edited book Physics and Mechanics of New Materials and Underwater Applications by Nova Science Publishers, Inc., New York or Springer, Berlin. Selected proceeding papers will be recommended to a special edition of Journal of Marine Science and Technology (Taiwan) in 2015, which has been indexed in EI since 1999, and SCIE since 2007.
The deadline for contributions to the proceedings presented electronically by the authors is April 15, 2014. It is assumed the length of the manuscripts will be up to 20 pages. Instructions for preparing the manuscript will be sent to each presenting author after the abstract has been accepted.

The official language of the symposium will be English.
